The Green Bay Packers have completed mandatory minicamp, and we now have five weeks until the start of training camp on July 29th. OTAs and minicamp gave us a first look at the team and where players are lining up. It also gave us an early look at the depth chart. With that in mind, here are five Packers players in danger of losing their jobs after minicamp. These players could still make the team, but they will have to do well in training camp or benefit from injuries to players ahead of them on the depth chart to make the 2026 Packers. They are not listed in any particular order.

Five Packers Players In Danger of Losing Their Jobs After Minicamp, Number Five: NT Nazir Stackhouse

Before the draft, Nazir Stackhouse was the Packers only true nose tackle on the Packers roster. That changed when the Packers selected Chris McClellan in the third round. McClellan can play any of the positions along the defensive line including the nose.

Stackhouse made the Packers as an undrafted free agent last season but didn’t see much playing time on defense. In 13 games, he played 159 defensive snaps and was in on 12 total tackles.

He didn’t play particularly well as a rookie and will need to show more in training camp this year to earn a spot on the Packers roster in 2026.

Number Four: DL Karl Brooks

This may be a numbers game for Karl Brooks as he enters his fourth NFL season. The former Bowling Green star played 16 games last seven and started seven. He made 28 total tackles but only 0.5 sacks after recording a combined total of 7.5 in his first two seasons with the team. He showed the ability to rush the passer in his first two seasons but with the arrival of Micah Parsons, Brooks wasn’t asked to play the same way last season.

The Packers drafted McClellan and signed Javon Hargrave as a free agent. With Devonte Wyatt returning from injury and Warren Brinson back for a second season, Brooks may need to prove his value on special teams to stay on the roster this season.

Five Packers Players In Danger of Losing Their Jobs After Minicamp, Number Three: LB Kristian Welch

Kristian Welch gives the Packers an experienced special teams player. However, he has played just two snaps on defense in 22 games with the Packers over two seasons.

Will new special teams coordinator Cam Achord favor the veteran Iowa alum, or will he go with younger alternatives on special teams?

Welch has been released before only to sign with the practice squad and return to the team. He again faces an uphill battle to make the team this season.

Number Two: Edge Arron Mosby

Arron Mosby surprised a lot of people by making the Packers roster after a strong training camp in 2024. But the Packers have a lot of players competing with him for a job at edge.

Even if Parsons misses the first half of the season, the Packers have Brenton Cox, Collin Oliver, Barryn Sorrell, Lukas Van Ness, and draft pick Dani Dennis-Sutton ahead of Mosby on the depth chart.

Barring injuries, Mosby will have a hard time surpassing those players and earning a roster spot. His best asset may be his ability to contribute on special teams which could help him stick around.

Five Packers Players In Danger of Losing Their Jobs After Minicamp, Number One: K Trey Smack

Trey Smack remains the favorite to win the Packers kicking job. His current competition is Lucas Havrisik who set a Packers franchise record for the longest field goal in one of the three games he kicked for the Packers. This will be a camp battle, but Smack will certainly get the benefit of the doubt if it’s a close competition. Afterall, the Packers traded up to grab Smack in the sixth round of this year’s draft.

Smack must learn how to kick in the cold and windy conditions of Lambeau Field after kicking in warm weather Florida in college.

Smack struggled with consistency at OTAs and minicamp. While it’s far too soon to panic, the Packers will keep an eye on his performance at training camp. If he continues to struggle, Smack could be in danger of losing his job, but Havrisik would have to clearly beat him out to win the job.
