The NFL remains a league that asks its players, “What have you done for me lately?” A player can go from All Pro to yesterday’s news in a hurry or do the reverse with one outstanding season. With that in mind, here are five Green Bay Packers players who are at a crossroads in their careers in 2025. These players could establish themselves as important players or become career backups or journeymen.
Packers Players On Offense Who Are at a Crossroads in Their Careers in 2025, Number Five: RB MarShawn Lloyd
The Packers selected MarShawn Lloyd in the third round in 2024, but he missed almost all of his rookie year due to assorted injuries. In fact, the USC alum played just one game and ran the ball six times for 15 yards.
Barring injury, Lloyd will only be battling for the backup running back spot behind Josh Jacobs. But Emanuel Wilson has done a good job in that role, so Lloyd has a battle for touches on his hands.
Another injury plagued season would give Lloyd a reputation as an oft injured and unreliable player. A solid season would make him a future part of the Packers offense.
Number Four: G Sean Rhyan
Sean Rhyan spent two seasons as a backup before winning the starting right guard job last season. He played all 17 games in 2024 and emerged as a steady starter. Rhyan graded out as a better pass blocker than run blocker, which was a reverse of where he stood after his first two seasons.
Rhyan also adds grit and attitude to the offensive line. His toughness and aggressive style of play adds an important element to the unit.
However, Rhyan may have to fight for the starting right guard position again this season. Former first round pick Jordan Morgan may compete at left tackle or at right guard. If it’s the latter, Rhyan will have to have a strong camp and preseason to keep his starting spot.
Rhyan will also be playing for a new contract after this season since 2025 is the final year of his entry-level deal. If he plays well this year, he can earn a second contract with the Packers. If he struggles, he will be a backup looking to find work with another team next offseason.
Packers Players On Offense Who Are at a Crossroads in Their Careers in 2025, Number Three: OL Jordan Morgan
Morgan managed to play just six games in his rookie season. He played left tackle in college, but because of his short arm length, most scouts expected him to play guard in the NFL.
The Packers initially said he would compete at left tackle but when training camp opened, he was seeing reps exclusively at guard. Morgan did not win the starting job but played several series each game in rotation with Rhyan. He started one game when injuries forced Elgton Jenkins to move to center.
In year two, the Packers need Morgan to win a starting job along the offensive line. Whether it’s at tackle or guard, Morgan needs to start getting his career on track and proving he is a legitimate first round pick.
Number Two: WR Romeo Doubs
Romeo Doubs endured a disappointing 2024 season. He enters the final year of his contract in 2024 and will need a good year to earn that second deal with the Packers.
Doubs caught 46 passes for 601 yards and four touchdowns last season. He also dropped seven passes.
Unfortunately, the Packers suspended Doubs for one game for conduct detrimental to the team when he complained about not getting enough targets. He returned after one game, but the underlying issues do not seem to have been fully resolved.
Doubs provides Jordan Love with a reliable short and intermediate target. He will need a strong season to earn a second contract with the Packers. With Christian Watson expected to miss at least half of the season, he may get more targets this season. He will need to take advantage of that opportunity.
Packers Players On Offense Who Are at a Crossroads in Their Careers in 2025, Number One: OT Rasheed Walker
Rasheed Walker rose from a seventh-round pick in 2022 to the starting left tackle in 2023 after David Bakhtiari was injured and lost for the season. The Penn State product has done a solid job at left tackle for the last two seasons, protecting Love’s blind side. Walker grades out better in pass protection than as a run blocker.
Walker will also be in the final year of his contract this season and needs to play well to earn a new deal with the Pack. Will he beat out Morgan or a 2025 draft pick to keep the left tackle job? If he does and plays well, Walker is likely going to be the starter for the foreseeable future. If not, his career will take a very different turn as he looks for another team he could earn a starting job with.
