We are still early in Green Bay Packers training camp for the 2026 season. While it’s still early and fully padded practices are just beginning, here’s a look at five players who are off to a great start at Packers training camp 2026. We discuss the players; the reason they’re on this list and what their potential strong play could mean for them going forward.

Five Players Off to a Great Start at Packers Training Camp 2026, Number Five: QB Jordan Love

Quarterback Jordan Love got off to a strong start at this year’s camp. He’s been sharp and accurate with his passes which is encouraging. Some of his throws have been impressive as he’s put the ball in tight places, putting it exactly where his receiver has the best chance of catching the football.

Love has also run well thus far. He scored two touchdowns rushing on the first day of training camp.

The Utah State alum seems to be playing with more confidence and his relationship with head coach Matt LaFleur and his understanding of the offense seems to be reaching a new level early in camp.

The Packers will need Love to have a strong season if they hope to contend in 2026 and his strong start is encouraging.

Number Four: S Johnathan Baldwin

Safety Johnathan Baldwin spent most of last season on the Packers practice squad and appeared in just one game, the 2025 season finale. The Packers signed Baldwin last season as an undrafted free agent and gave him an unusually high guarantee of $115,000. This year, he hopes to live up to the hype that bonus created.

Baldwin played slot his final season at UNLV and had a great final year, intercepting six passes. New defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon has Baldwin playing with the second team defense in the slot, behind Javon Bullard. That versatility can help his chances of making the team.

Meanwhile, Baldwin intercepted a Tyrod Taylor pass at practice Thursday and also blew up a screen pass behind the line of scrimmage. He is off an impressive start to training camp and hopes to make the roster this season as a backup safety and slot corner.

Five Players Off to a Great Start at Packers Training Camp 2026, Number Three: WR J. Michael Sturdivant

The tools have always been there for wideout J. Michael Sturdivant, but that production has not been. GM Brian Gutekunst loved Sturdivant’s combination of size (6’3” and 207 pounds) and speed. In fact, he scored an elite-level 9.96 relative athletic score (RAS). Still, he has yet to match the production he had in his first year of college ball.

In the first week of training camp, Sturdivant stood out. He’s made some impressive catches and done a good job of getting open. He has still been plagued by drops and needs to improve his consistency, but Sturdivant has shown promise and made a good first impression as he fights for a roster spot or at least a berth on the practice squad.

Number Two: Edge Dani Dennis-Sutton

Rookie fourth-round pick Dani Dennis-Sutton has been predominantly working with the second team edge rushers behind Lukas Van Ness and Barryn Sorrell. However, on obvious passing downs, the Packers have lined up Dennis-Sutton on the interior of the line to boost the pass rush.

That additional responsibility gives Dennis-Sutton an edge when it comes to earning playing time. Once Micah Parsons returns from injury, Van Ness may take over that job, but if Dennis-Sutton plays well early on, it gives him a chance to show what he can do and assume a larger role in his rookie campaign.

Five Players Off to a Great Start at Packers Training Camp 2026, Number One: WR Matthew Golden

The Packers are counting on 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden to take on a starting role this season. The former Texas star has been a standout early in camp, playing to his 4.29 second 40-yard dash time and making some great catches.

Golden has been developing great chemistry with Love and seems to be very comfortable in the offense. He’s made some impressive catches including a clutch over-the-shoulder grab that electrified that crowd at practice.

A breakout season from Golden would be a big boost to the Packers passing attack.
