The Green Bay Packers entered the 2025 season with depth at wide receiver. But injuries prevented them from having a full contingent of receivers available. But as we enter the final four games of the 2025 campaign, the Pack could be getting all their wide receivers healthy at the same time and that could have a big impact down the stretch and in the playoffs.

Healthy Packers Wide Receivers Could Have a Big Impact: The Injuries

At the start of the season, the Packers were without Christian Watson. He suffered a torn ACL during the 2024 season finale against the Bears. He was expected to miss the first half of the season as he completed rehab on his injured knee.

By Week 2, the team was also without Jayden Reed. He suffered a Jones fracture on his foot and a broken collarbone and needed surgery for both. Reed led the Packers in catches in each of the last two seasons. The former Michigan State star operated primarily out of the slot and provided the team with a reliable target on short and intermediate routes and the ability to get deep on occasion. He also did a good job on gadget plays like the jet sweep or end arounds.

If everyone was healthy, Watson and Reed were potentially the team’s top two targets heading into the season.

During the season, other wide receivers missed time. Dontayvion Wicks missed two full games and parts of others. First round pick Matthew Golden has also been out of the lineup for three full games and parts of others. The injuries caused Bo Melton, who was converted to cornerback over the offseason, to take snaps on offense at receiver.

The Impact of the Returnees

Getting Watson and Reed back in the lineup has helped the offense thrive. Watson came back earlier than expected and managed to get back into to football shape faster than expected.

In seven games, he’s caught 25 passes for 452 yards and five touchdowns. He’s averaging a team-high 18.1-yards per catch.

Watson’s return helped open up opportunities for other receivers. Defenses have to respect Watson rare combination of size and speed and that draws coverage to wherever Watson goes. That means there are open spaces on the field for other receivers to exploit.

Watson returned to form over the last four games. It’s not a coincidence that the Packers have scored 23 points or more in all four. They also went 4-0 in those games.

Reed has only played one game since he returned to the lineup, and he was obviously on a play count. Still, he caught four passes on four targets and ran the ball twice on jet sweeps for 22 more yards.

Reed gives quarterback Jordan Love a reliable short and intermediate target who can also get deep on occasion. He can give Love a check down he can trust, something he has lacked since Tucker Kraft was lost for the season a month ago.

Healthy Packers Wide Receivers Could Have a Big Impact: The Outlook

Both Wicks and Golden barely saw the field against the Bears last Sunday. The Packers have yet to have a game with all of their top five receivers on the field. That would be Watson, Reed, Golden, Doubs, and Wicks.

That would give the team a deep and talented group of wideouts that can spread the field and create opportunities for each other while giving opposing defenses headaches.

Golden has yet to realize his potential and has been slowed by injuries in recent weeks. If he is the third or fourth target, he could face some favorable matchups against the team’s nickel or dime back.

Wicks just needs to be more consistent. He does a good job of getting open, but he has struggled with dropped passes. Again, if Wicks is up against the opposition’s depth corners or safeties, he could be even more dangerous.

The potential for this receiver room is extremely high. Getting them all healthy late in the season and for the playoffs could have a big impact on the Packers chances this season.
