The Green Bay Packers 2025 season ended Saturday night in Chicago when they suffered an embarrassing collapse in their 31-27 loss to the Bears. The Packers finished with a 9-7-1 record. The NFL is a business and every season there are players who will not be back with the team next year. Here is a look at nine pending unrestricted free agents on the Packers current roster who may not be back with the club in 2026 and may have played their last game for the Packers. We analyze why they may not be back and what their chances are of returning to the Packers next season. Players are listed alphabetically by last name.

These players are unrestricted free agents. Exclusive rights free agents and restricted free agents are not included here. We will review potential cap casualties in a future article.

First Player Who May Have Played His Last Game for the Packers (UFA): WR Romeo Doubs

Romeo Doubs led the Packers in catches (55), receiving yards (724) and tied for the team lead with six touchdown catches. He also has great chemistry with quarterback Jordan Love. So why is he on this list?

The Packers have a lot of depth at wide receiver, and it just wouldn’t make a lot of sense to pay Doubs at market value. Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden and Savion Williams are all under contract for next season. Watson will be the only player on that list not on a rookie contract. With the Packers current cap situation, Doubs will just be a luxury the team cannot afford.

Chance of Returning: 25 percent

Second Player: DE Kingsley Enagbare

Kingsley Enagbare started the season as part of the edge rush rotation behind Micah Parsons and Rashan Gary. When Parsons suffered a season-ending injury, Enagbare got more playing time. He played the run reasonably well but only provided intermittent pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Enagbare recorded two sacks, six tackles for loss and nine quarterback hits while tying his career high of 39 total tackles. He played 42 percent of the team’s defensive snaps while starting three games.

Enagbare’s rookie contract has expired. He may get a second contract with the team if he’s willing to continue being a rotational piece of the defense. He will leave if another team offers him a chance to play a larger role elsewhere.

Chance of Returning: 45 percent

Third Player Who May Have Played His Last Game for the Packers (UFA): TE John FitzPatrick

Tight end John FitzPatrick played 15 games for the Packers this season and started four. He provides the team with a reliable checkdown receiving target and a solid blocker at tight end. He caught 12 passes on 15 targets for 72 yards and one touchdown.

FitzPatrick could return in a similar role and on a reasonable contract. He would likely start the season on the injured reserve after tearing his Achilles.

Chance of Return: 40 percent

Fourth Player: LB Nick Niemann

Special teams ace Nick Niemann played seven games for the Packers before suffering a pectoral injury. He returned for the team’s playoff game in Chicago. Niemann played exclusively on special teams. He could be back again next year although if special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia doesn’t return Niemann’s chances are reduced.

Chance of Return: 45 percent

Fifth Player Who May Have Played His Last Game for the Packers (UFA): OL Sean Rhyan

Sean Rhyan started the season as the team’s starting right guard but lost that job midseason. When Elgton Jenkins suffered a season-ending injury, Rhyan took over as the team’s center. He played all 17 games and started 11.

Rhyan adds toughness and attitude to the offensive line, but his pass blocking remains suspect. He has never established himself as a preferred starter for this team.

He could return on a similar deal to what Jon Runyan got when he left Green Bay, but he will likely get a better offer elsewhere.

Chance of Return: 40 percent

Sixth Player: OT Rasheed Walker

Rasheed Walker came a long way from seventh-round pick to starting left tackle. He had a lot to play for in the final year of his rookie contract and could have earned a lucrative new deal from the Packers or another team with a strong season.

Unfortunately, Walker failed to play up to his previous level. He took far too many penalties and was very inconsistent. The Penn State alum played all 17 games and started 16. But with Jordan Morgan and Anthony Belton available and Zach Tom returning, paying Walker a competitive free agent contract isn’t likely.

Chance of Return: 20 percent

Seventh Player Who May Have Played His Last Game for the Packers (UFA): LB Quay Walker

Linebacker Quay Walker has been a four-year starter for the Packers. GM Brian Gutekunst declined his fifth-year option last offseason and said he wanted to work out an extension with the Georgia alum. That has yet to happen.

Walker led the Packers in tackles for the fourth straight year despite missing three full games due to injuries. He has good speed and has become a leader on defense. The key question will be whether the Packers can afford to sign Walker to a new contract with their cap constraints, and whether they feel Ty’Ron Hopper is ready to replace him as the starter.

Chance of Return: 50 percent

Eighth Player: LB Kristian Welch

Kristian Welch gives the Packers another special teams ace. Welch played eight games for the Packers but only two snaps on defense. His return may also be tied to Bisaccia’s return. He provides a consistent role player on special teams.

Chance of Returning: 50 percent

Ninth Player Who May Have Played His Last Game for the Packers (UFA): QB Malik Willis

Malik Willis proved himself to be one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL. His rookie contract expired and he will now be an unrestricted free agent. There is little doubt Willis will look for an opportunity to compete for a starting job elsewhere rather than return to Green Bay as a backup to Love.

Willis turns 27 in May, and this will be his best chance to find an opportunity to start before he gets labeled as a career backup.
