The Green Bay Packers opened training camp this week and the battle is on to make the team’s active roster and to fill in spots on the practice squad. While strong or weak performances and injuries will impact the final roster selection, here is our Packers projected 53-man roster for 2026 as the team starts training camp.

Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Quarterbacks (2)

Jordan Love will be the starter and Tyrod Taylor will be the primary backup. The battle to watch will be for the third quarterback spot between Kyron Drones and Kyle McCord. The winner will land on the practice squad while the loser will be let go.

Running Back: (3)

There are a lot of questions at this position including the possible suspension of Josh Jacobs and the health of MarShawn Lloyd. Assuming everyone stays available, Jacobs, Lloyd, and Chris Brooks will make the roster with two players likely to make the practice squad.

The first four spots are locks with starters Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, and Jayden Reed and top backup Savion Williams. Skyy Moore will be the team’s top return specialist which makes him a near lock to make the roster.

Bo Melton enters camp as the favorite with Isaiah Neyor and J. Michael Sturdivant as the top contenders to earn the final spot. Melton enters training camp with the edge based on his experience and popularity with the coaching staff, but a strong camp by one of the other contenders could change that.

Tight End (4)

Tucker Kraft will be the starter, and the Packers are excited to have him back and healthy. Luke Musgrave will be the primary backup, and Josh Whyle will be the likely number three. The Packers wanted a blocking tight end and Luke Lachey is the favorite to win that spot.

The starters are set but there are major questions about the depth here. The starters at tackle will be Jordan Morgan and Zach Tom while Aaron Banks and Anthony Belton start at guard. The center will be Sean Rhyan. Darian Kinnard will be the swing tackle and Jager Burton the swing interior offensive lineman.

The battle for the remaining three spots will be tough, but they likely go to Jacob Monk, Donovan Jennings, and Travis Glover.

Defensive Line: (6)

Devonte Wyatt, Javon Hargrave and Chris McClellan are the likely starters. The Packers may keep one true nose tackle to backup McClellan and that will likely be Nazir Stackhouse. Karl Brooks and Warren Brinson are likely to win the other backup jobs.

Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Edge (5)

Micah Parsons starts the season on the PUP list and doesn’t count towards the initial 53-man roster. His return is expected at some point in October. Lukas Van Ness will earn one starting spot with Barryn Sorrell, Brenton Cox, and rookie Dani Dennis-Sutton fighting for the other starting job. The final roster spot likely goes to Collin Oliver who enters his second season after playing only one game as a rookie.

Linebacker: (5)

Edgerrin Cooper and Zaire Franklin will be the starters with Isaiah McDuffie and Ty’Ron Hopper as the next duo on the depth chart. The final roster spot will go to a special teams ace and Nick Niemann is the favorite to earn that roster spot.

Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine enter camp as the starters on the boundary with Javon Bullard the starter in the slot. Benjamin St-Juste and Brandon Cisse will be next on the depth chart and may win one of the starting jobs before camp is over. Rookie Domani Jackson likely wins the final roster spot.

Safety: (3)

The Packers are deep here with starters Xavier McKinney and Evan Williams. Kitan Oladapo will be the primary backup. Bullard plays the slot but provides depth at safety. Two more safeties will likely make the practice squad.

Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Special Teams (3)

Trey Smack will be the kicker barring a disastrous training camp. Daniel Whelan remains the only punter on the roster, and he is one of the league’s best. Matt Orzech will be the long snapper although he’s injured and not practicing yet. Unless his injury is long-term, his job is secure.
