The Green Bay Packers have one more preseason game left on the schedule before final cuts have to be made and the team has to set it’s initial 53-man roster. That gives players one more chance to make an impression on the coaching staff. Barring any trades or significant injuries, here is our Packers projected 53-man roster for 2026 with one preseason game remaining.
Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Quarterbacks (2)
Jordan Love will be the starter and Tyrod Taylor will be the primary backup. Kyle McCord has enjoyed a strong camp and preseason and will start the season on the practice squad. If he continues to play well, McCord has a chance to be the backup in 2027.
Running Back: (3)
The top three appears set with Josh Jacobs as the starter and MarShawn Lloyd as the change-of-pace back. Chris Brooks will make the roster primarily because of his ability to pick up blitzes and protect the quarterback.
Pierre Strong had a great performance against Denver and has the inside track to make the roster if the team keeps four runners or someone is hurt or suspended. Lloyd’s injury history and Jacobs’ potential suspension by the league means the Pack will likely keep two running backs on the practice squad.
Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Wide Receiver (6)
The first four spots are locks with starters Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, and Jayden Reed and top backup Savion Williams. Skyy Moore will be the team’s top return specialist and that gives him a spot on the roster even if anything he does as a receiver is a bonus.
Bo Melton looks like he’ll earn the sixth and final roster spot. Both Isaiah Neyor and J. Michael Sturdivant enjoyed strong camps. Sturdivant suffered a head injury against Denver which the team could use to stash him on IR. Ideally, they hope Neyor and Sturdivant can clear waivers and be placed on the practice squad.
Tight End (3)
Tucker Kraft has returned to practice and should be ready to play in Week 1. Luke Musgrave remains on the PUP list and probably starts the season there. Josh Whyle and Drake Dabney likely make the initial 53. The Packers could look to upgrade this position after initial cuts by signing a player off waivers or via trade. That could lead to a fourth player making the roster at this position.
Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Offensive Line: (10)
It’s been a rocky training camp for the Packers offensive line with injuries and poor play impacting the lineup.
The starters at tackle are set with Jordan Morgan and Zach Bako-Bewele starting. Aaron Banks will start at left guard assuming he can stay healthy (knee tendonitis). Anthony Belton struggled and lost the starting right guard spot but will still make the team. The center will be Sean Rhyan. Jager Burton and Jacob Monk are battling for the starting right guard spot now and the other will be the top swing interior offensive lineman.
Darian Kinnard will be one of the backup tackles with Donovan Jennings and John Williams adding depth along the line.
Defensive Line: (6)
Devonte Wyatt, Javon Hargrave and Chris McClellan remain the likely starters. Karl Brooks and Warren Brinson are likely to win the other backup jobs. Anthony Campbell continues to play well and will likely earn a roster spot.
As of now, Johnathan Ford appears likely to edge out Nazir Stackhouse for the backup nose tackle spot but probably starts the season on the practice squad.
Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Edge (5)
Micah Parsons starts the season on the PUP list and doesn’t count towards the initial 53-man roster. His return is expected at some point in October. Lukas Van Ness will earn one starting spot with Barryn Sorrell expected to start until Parsons’ return. Brenton Cox, Dani Dennis-Sutton and Collin Oliver earn spots in the edge rush rotation.
The Packers will try to get Nyjalik Kelly and Arron Mosby on the practice squad.
Linebacker: (5)
Edgerrin Cooper and Zaire Franklin will be the starters with Isaiah McDuffie and Ty’Ron Hopper as the top backups. Both of them will also contribute on special teams. Nick Niemann earns the final roster spot mostly on the strength of his special teams performance.
Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Cornerback: (6)
Last year’s starters Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine had a rough start to camp. Valentine was out due to injury and Nixon has struggled on the field and with his headline making attitude. Javon Bullard will be the starter in the slot. Benjamin St-Juste and Brandon Cisse have looked good in camp with St-Juste being steady while Cisse has established himself as one starter. Rookie Domani Jackson starts on the practice squad while Kamal Hadden likely earns the final roster spot after a strong return from his season-ending injury last season.
Safety: (4)
The Packers are deep here with starters Xavier McKinney and Evan Williams. Kitan Oladapo will be the primary backup. Bullard plays the slot but provides depth at safety. Two more safeties will likely make the practice squad. Mark Perry played well this preseason and will earn the final spot.
Packers Projected 53 Man Roster for 2026 as We Start Training Camp: Special Teams (3)
Trey Smack has enjoyed a strong preseason after struggling early in practice. Daniel Whelan remains the only punter on the roster, and he is one of the league’s best. Matt Orzech will still likely be the long snapper unless he’s still unavailable due to injury. If Orzech isn’t ready, Cal Adomitis has done a good job in his absence.
