In the eight seasons that Matt LaFleur has been head coach of the Green Bay Packers, six different players have led the team in scoring. Only one of them, however, is still on the current roster. So, who is most likely to lead the Packers in points in 2026? Here is a look at the top five candidates to lead the Packers in points in 2026. Rankings are based on the players’ history, their projected roles on the team this season and their health status and injury history.

Packers Most Likely to Lead the team in Scoring in 2026, Candidate Number Five: WR Christian Watson

Wide receiver Christian Watson is projected to be the team’s top receiver this season. He will also be the team’s projected top deep threat and a frequent red zone target. Last season, the North Dakota State alum caught six touchdown passes in 10 games. He was on a play count in some of those 10 contests as he recovered from his torn ACL.

Injuries have been an issue for Watson throughout his career. He has yet to play a full season in the NFL without missing at least two games.

This will be a contract year for Watson. Unless he signs an extension before or during the season, he will have a lot of incentive to have a big season in 2026.

Number Four: WR Jayden Reed

Wide receiver Jayden Reed led the Packers in catches in each of his first two NFL seasons despite lining up in the slot and only playing 56 percent of the team’s offensive snaps in 2023 and 64 percent in 2024. Last season, injuries limited him to seven games, so he didn’t play enough to lead the team in scoring.

Reed has good chemistry with quarterback Jordan Love who often looks for him on third down and in the red zone. The fact that LaFleur likes to utilize Reed on jet sweeps and end arounds adds to his scoring potential. He ran for three touchdowns in his first two NFL campaigns.

Reed’s potential return to health will give the Packers another dangerous offensive weapon. If he leads the Packers in catches again this season, he could also lead the team in touchdowns.

Packers Most Likely to Lead the team in Scoring in 2026, Candidate Number Three: TE Tucker Kraft

Tight end Tucker Kraft played only eight games last season but still tied for the team lead with six touchdown catches last season. Kraft has been a favorite red zone target for Love when he’s been healthy and his ability to gain yardage after the catch makes him dangerous anytime he touches the football.

Kraft will be the team’s starting tight end again in 2026 and should have an entire campaign as one of the team’s primary red zone targets.

The former South Dakota State star was on pace to become the first tight end in franchise history to gain more than 1,000 yards in a season when he suffered a serious knee injury. If he starts the year on time and at full strength, he has a chance to lead the team in scoring.

Number Two: RB Josh Jacobs

Josh Jacobs led the Packers in scoring in 2024 and led all non-kickers in points last season as well. LaFleur likes to run the ball inside the opponent’s 10-yard line and Jacobs is by far the player getting the most touches in those situations.

In 2024, Jacobs ran for 15 touchdowns and caught one. Last season, injuries slowed him down and caused him to miss two games and parts of others. He still ran for 13 touchdowns and caught one.

There are questions surrounding Jacobs heading into this offseason. Will he stay healthy this season? He is 28, which is getting older for an NFL running back and he has a lot of touches over the course of his career.

Obviously, his arrest last week also means he could be suspended and miss time if the league feels that is warranted. Keep in mind, the league conducts its own investigation, and they can suspend Jacobs even if the courts decide he is not guilty of a crime.

Jacobs figures to be the Packers top running back again in 2026 (if he’s on the field) and again should be a big red-zone weapon. If he stays healthy, Jacobs has a good chance to regain his status as the Packers leading scorer in 2026.

Packers Most Likely to Lead the team in Scoring in 2026, Candidate Number One: K Trey Smack

Kickers are always the favorites when it comes to leading the team in scoring. Rookie Trey Smack has the inside track at the kicking job after the Packers traded up to select him in the sixth round of this year’s draft. He will have to beat out Lucas Havrisik in training camp to win the kicking job.

Smack has a very strong leg and was accurate from beyond 50 yards, hitting 10-of-13 kicks from the range in college. He will have to navigate kicking in the cold and windy conditions at Lambeau Field late in the season to be successful in Green Bay.

If Smack struggles with consistency, he may not hold the job all season. If he does, he will be the favorite to lead the Packers in scoring in 2026.
