The NFL released their 2025 schedule on Wednesday night and the Green Bay Packers will have some very exciting games coming up in 2025. This season, the Packers will be facing teams from the AFC North and the NFC East along with other key matchups. The release of the schedule allows Packers fans to look forward to the 2025 season and make plans to attend the game(s) they want to see both at home and on the road. Here are 10 key takeaways from the Packers 2025 schedule:

Ten Takeaways from the Packers 2025 Schedule, Number One: The Packers Finally Open the Season at Home

The Green Bay Packers have not opened their season at Lambeau Field since Matt LaFleur became the head coach in 2019. Over the last six years, they’ve opened on the road four times and in neutral locations twice.

This year, the Packers end that streak by playing the Detroit Lions in Week 1 at Lambeau Field. This will be a 3:25 CT start. The game will pit the Pack against last year’s NFC North champs, and it could have major playoff and tie-breaking implications.

Number Two: The Packers Will Face the Bears Twice in Three Weeks

In a strange scheduling quirk, the Packers won’t face the Chicago Bears until Week 14 when they host them at Lambeau Field. In Week 15, the Packers travel to Denver to take on the Broncos. Then, the following week, the Packers visit the Bears in Chicago.

Having two games against their traditional rivals in three weeks could make for some very intense football and it could have an impact on the NFC North race.

Ten Takeaways from the Packers 2025 Schedule, Number Three: The Packers Will Play Thanksgiving Day Game for the 3rd Straight Year

The Packers will be in action on Thanksgiving Day got the third consecutive season. In 2023, the Packers visited the Lions in the traditional early afternoon game. The Pack won that game 29-22.

Last year, the Packers hosted the Miami Dolphins in prime time on Thanksgiving, and they won that game as well.

This season, the Packers return to Detroit for the traditional early afternoon matchup in Week 13 with the game scheduled for noon CT.

The Packers all-time record on Thanksgiving is 16-20-2. They have not played on Thanksgiving in three consecutive years since 1961-63.

Number Four: The Packers Will Be Play in Prime Time Four Times So Far

The Packers will play in prime time four times this season although that number could change as the networks and the NFL can flex games in and out of prime time late in the season.

It all starts on Week 2 when the Packers host the Washington Commanders on Thursday night.

The Pack will make two appearances on Sunday Night Football. First, they will travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys in Week 4. In Week 8, the Packers visit Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers on Sunday night.

In Week 10, the Packers will host the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles on Monday Night Football. This will mark the 33rd straight year the team will appear on Monday Night Football.

Ten Takeaways from the Packers 2025 Schedule, Number Five: The Bye Week Is Early This Season

The Packers bye week this year comes in Week 5 of an 18-week regular season. This is much earlier than the Packers would have preferred. The bye week often helps players who are injured rest and injuries are more prevalent as the season progresses.

After the bye, the Packers will host the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6 in a 3:25 pm CT start.

Number Six: The Packers Could Face Aaron Rodgers in Prime Time

The Pack could face former quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the first time if A-Rod signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers as many suspect he will.

In Week 8, the Pack visits the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Sunday night. That would certainly be a spectacle worthy of a national television audience if it happens.

Ten Takeaways from the Packers 2025 Schedule, Number Seven: Three of the Final Four Games are on the Road

The Packers will be away from home for most of the stretch drive this season. They close with three of their final four games are away from home with trips to Denver in Week 15, Chicago in Week 16 and Minnesota in Week 18. A home game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17 is the only time the Pack will play at Lambeau in the closing four games of the season.

Number Eight: There are Three Two-Game Road Trips

Last year, the Packers had only one two-game road trip. This year, there will be three of them. The Packers have a pair of two-game home stands this season.

With a 17-game schedule, the Pack alternates between eight and nine home games per season. This year, they have only eight home contests.

Ten Takeaways from the Packers 2025 Schedule, Number Nine: The Packers Close with a lot of Division Games

Five of the Packers final seven games will come against NFC North opponents. This means that after opening the 2025 campaign against Detroit, they won’t play another division foe until Week 12. Then they will play three straight division opponents and five of the last seven overall against their chief rivals.

Number Ten: The Preseason Schedule Has Also Been Released

The Packers three preseason games were announced. Because they have eight home games during the regular season, Green Bay will have two home games and only one road game in the preseason.

On August 9th, the Packers host the New York Jets at 7:00 CT to open the preseason.

On August 16th, the Pack travel to Indianapolis to face the Colts at noon CT.

Then on August 23rd, Green Bay closes out the preseason with a 3:00 CT home game against the Seattle Seahawks.
