For the last three seasons, the Green Bay Packers have had one of the youngest rosters in the NFL. Despite the team’s lack of experience, they have made the playoffs in each of those seasons. As of now, the Packers have 91 players on their roster but only three are 30 years old or older and one more will turn 30 before the end of the 2026 campaign. Only one player on this list a year ago remains on the team with Brandon McManus, Kenny Clark, and Elgton Jenkins having since departed. So, these are the only Packers players on the roster 30 years old or more.
The Only Players on the Packers Roster 30 or Over, Number One: QB Tyrod Taylor
The Packers signed veteran Tyrod Taylor to a contract in May to be the backup to Jordan Love. Quarterbacks can play into their late 30s or even early 40s and Taylor is no exception.
The Virginia Tech alum will turn 37 in August. He will be returning for his 16th NFL campaign in 2026 and his eighth NFL team. He spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets and has also played for the Giants, Texans, Chargers, Browns, Bills and Ravens.
Taylor will give the Packers an experienced backup who has started 62 games over his NFL career. The Packers hope he only sees action in mop up duty, but if he needs to start a game or two, Taylor remains perfectly capable of leading a team to a win.
We’re at the point in Taylor’s career where any season could be his last. He signed a one-year contract with the Packers this offseason.
Number Two: LS Matt Orzech
The only returning player on this list is long snapper Matt Orzech. The Azusa Pacific alum turned 31 on April 12th.
He began his NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019. In 2021, he joined the Los Angeles Rams where he spent two seasons and won a Super Bowl.
Orzech signed with the Packers before the 2023 season and has held the job for the last three years. In six NFL seasons, Orzech has never missed a game.
The Packers appreciate that Orzech doesn’t make major errors. The only time a long snapper gets attention is when they make a mistake, so Orzech is only too happy to remain anonymous.
The Only Players on the Packers Roster 30 or Over, Number Three: DT Javon Hargrave
The Packers signed veteran defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to a two-year deal this offseason to help improve the interior pass rush.
Hargrave turned 33 in February. Last season, the former South Carolina State star started 15 games for the Vikings and recorded 3.5 sacks, six quarterback hits and four tackles for loss.
The two-time Pro Bowler has also played for the Steelers, Eagles and 49ers in his 10-year NFL career. He needs one more sack to reach 50 for his career.
It will be interesting to see how new defensive coordinator utilizes Hargrave in the team’s new defense and how much playing time he earns. He and Devonte Wyatt give the Packers two defensive tackles capable of providing pressure from the interior of the defensive line.
Number Four: LB Zaire Franklin
The Packers traded for veteran linebacker Zaire Franklin this offseason. Franklin won’t turn 30 until July 2nd. The Syracuse alum has put together a solid, eight-year career since being selected by the Colts in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Packers are counting on Franklin to replace the now departed Quay Walker as the starting linebacker opposite Edgerrin Cooper.
Last season, the Syracuse alum recorded 125 total tackles, two sacks, and seven tackles for loss. He also broke up five passes while in coverage for the Colts.
The Packers will once again feature mostly younger players this season. Once the dust settles and the final roster is set, we’ll see if the Packers are once again among the youngest teams in the NFL in 2026.
