The Green Bay Packers enter the 2025 offseason trying to improve from a playoff team to a bona fide Super Bowl contender. The team has talent on both sides of the football but needs more depth and to lower the mistakes they make in big games. But there are some needs the team needs to address to take that next step. Here are three positions the Packers and general manager Brian Gutekunst will definitely address in the 2025 NFL Draft. They may not address these positions in the first round, but they will be priorities for the team this offseason.

Three Position the Packers Will Address in the 2025 NFL Draft, Number Three: Interior Offensive Line

The Packers have issues on the interior of the offensive line. Center Josh Myers will be an unrestricted free agent next month unless he is re-signed. The team may need to find a new starter in the middle of the line for 2025. Even if Myers returns, the team will look to draft a center of the future to develop behind him.

Depth is a big issue as well. We saw what happened in the playoff game against Philadelphia when Elgton Jenkins was injured. The lack of depth caused the team to try two different players at left guard and both were overwhelmed by a strong Eagles defensive line.

The wild card in the equation is 2024 first round pick, Jordan Morgan. Morgan played only six games as a rookie due to injuries but should be healthy and ready to go for training camp. The Packers are hoping he can live up to his first round draft status and provide strong play in 2025 and beyond.

In addition to Morgan, the team has late round 2024 picks Jacob Monk and Travis Glover. Neither was ready to assume large roles in 2024. More picks on day three to fortify the interior line are likely.

The team will also likely add a pick on day two to compete for a starting job. Jenkins and Sean Rhyan are the starters at guard, but there is a lack of depth and a big question at center.

Second Position: Cornerback

The big question entering the offseason is the future of Jaire Alexander. When he’s healthy, Alexander remains the team’s best cover corner and a Pro Bowl-caliber talent. He is capable of being a shutdown corner. The problem is, Alexander played only seven games in each of the last two seasons.

The Packers are Alexander seem frustrated with each other. The team wants Alexander to play through injuries better while Alexander seemed to indicate he won’t be back next season when the players were cleaning out their lockers.

The players at the top of the depth chart include Carrington Valentine and Keisean Nixon on the perimeter, and Javon Bullard in the slot.

In addition to Alexander, former first-round pick Eric Stokes will be an unrestricted free agent next month and is unlikely to be back.

The team lacks an elite cornerback one. It will need to address the cornerback position during the offseason and that will include an early pick in the NFL Draft.

Three Positions the Packers Will Address in the 2025 NFL Draft, Number One: Edge Rusher

The Packers front four struggled all season to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks. As a result, defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley had to rely on blitzes and stunts to create pressure. This was not the way he wanted the defense to run.

Rashan Gary led the team with 7.5 sacks. None of the other edge rushers had more than 4.5. Kingsley Enagbare remains a useful rotational player.

Brenton Cox showed some promise as a pass rusher after the team traded Preston Smith at the NFL trade deadline, but he’s yet to show he can be a quality NFL starter.

Lukas Van Ness has yet to start a game in his first NFL seasons after being drafted in the first round in 2023. He recorded three sacks last season, down from four in his rookie campaign.

The Packers need an upgrade at this position and will likely address it in the early rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft or in free agency.
